10 DIY Gifts for Kids (Including No-Sew Options!) These adorable DIY gifts are perfect for Christmas or birthdays!10 DIY Gifts for Kids (Including 6 no sew options!) These adorable gift ideas are perfect for Christmas and birthdays!

I’ve mentioned before how much I love DIY gifts. They’re a thrifty alternative to store bought gifts, which is a blessing when working with a limited budget. Some of my most treasured gifts are handmade items others have made. I appreciate knowing that someone put the time and effort into making something just for me.

I’ve looked at hundreds of DIY gift ideas on Pinterest this year. Below, I’m sharing my favorite DIY Gifts for Kids, sorted into Sew and No-Sew categories. Each gift idea includes a link to a free tutorial and/or pattern!

No-Sew DIY Gifts for Kids:

1. Homemade Playdough:playdough

This recipe from www.tinkerlab.com is easy, inexpensive, and makes excellent playdough! G loves it, and I can’t tell the difference between this playdough and the store bought stuff.

To make it extra special, consider making “Magic Playdough”. Use the recipe from tinkerlab.com to create plain playdough.  Separate playdough into four balls. Using your finger, make a cavity in the center of each ball and add 3-4 drops of food coloring. Press the uncolored playdough over the cavity, hiding the food coloring inside. Package the playdough in small snack containers from the dollar store, or in zip top bags.

Explain to the recipient that this is Magic Playdough. As they play with it for the first time, the color of the playdough will be revealed. I used to do this with my kindergarten students on the first day of school and they loved watching the color appear as they played!

2. Make Your Own Playdough Christmas Tree
